Through this assignment, I learned the ability to critically dissect arguments on a social issue that I was very interested in: The Tampon Tax. I not only learned the importance and ability to write about social issues and hot button topics, but I also learned the importance of research and the power of words.
Speaking on Ideas That Matter
The goal of this course is to assist you in becoming a competent speaker, and to provide you with the skills needed to express your ideas effectively. We will be speaking on ideas that matter by taking an interdisciplinary approach to argumentation. During this quarter you will learn about faulty reasoning, proper research, appealing to an audience, and other core concepts related to argumentation. Because what we do in our private lives are often public issues, all assignments will concern social issues in one way or another. The purpose of such assignments are to get you knowledgeable on topics that effect your every day lives.
